This Jack Nicklaus signature Golf Course has been rated one of the 10 best golf courses in South Africa. AccommodationThatchwood has a relaxed home-from-home atmosphere. The beautifully decorated bedrooms with spacious bathrooms offer many comforts including telephone, wifi, tea / coffee making facilities and TV. Most rooms have a private garden or patio. Our seven rooms are spacious and individually decorated; doors open to your private garden with wooden sundeck and outside furniture. All non-smoking rooms are en-suite, and the superior and luxury rooms have spacious new bathrooms with bath and shower and the standard rooms have shower or a bath. All rooms are equipped with heaters for the cool winter evenings and our thatched roof is your air-conditioning during the warm summers. FacilitiesWe have two lounges for you to relax, a swimming pool and you can have a drink at ‘Harries Bar’. The lodge is fully licensed and guests are invited to help themselves at the honesty bar. BreakfastSuperb buffet breakfasts are served in the enclosed patio, surrounded by the indigenous garden and prolific birdlife. The nearby golf course stretches to the sea providing a tranquil, extended garden to the lodge. Activities and AttractionsSo it is a golfer’s heaven with the two golf courses on our doorstep, but also non golfers will enjoy St Francis Bay. Just stroll down the fairways to the unspoilt white beaches and watch dolphins and whales, or enjoy a sunset cruise on the canals. You can also just relax in the landscaped garden near the swimming pool and enjoy the birds and a glass of wine. In winter the cosy lounge invites friendly conversation around the fireplace. We are at the beginning of the Garden Route and centrally located to visit Addo Elephant Park or one of the many private game parks like Pumba, Shamwari, Kariega and many others. St Francis BaySt Francis is a beautiful village with unique architecture (all white houses with black roofs), a 10 km canal system and a working harbour that is the base for calamari boats as well as many pleasure boats. DIRECTIONS: From Port Elizabeth airport After you leave the airport, follow the signs to the N2 motorway towards Cape Town and Humansdorp. Once you are on the N2 keep driving for approximately 45 minutes until you see the R330 Humansdorp exit. Take this exit and follow the road into Humansdorp. You will come to a stop street with two large palm trees and an Engen Garage opposite. Cross over, passing the garage on your left. Drive through the town to a T-junction. Turn left here and follow the road and signs to St. Francis Bay. When you get to St. Francis Bay, turn left and Thatchwood will be directly ahead of you. From Knysna and the Garden Route Take the N2 to Port Elizabeth. After Karedouw and Kruisfontein, take the N330 to Humansdorp. Take this off-ramp and follow the road into Humansdorp. You will come to a stop street with two large palm trees and an Engen Garage opposite. Cross over, passing the garage on your left. Drive through the town to a T-junction. Turn left here and follow the road and signs to St Francis Bay. When you get to St. Francis Bay, turn left and Thatchwood will be directly ahead of you.
