Hopewell Lodge is an exclusive luxury hideaway on a private African game reserve in South Africa's beautiful Eastern Cape. The luxurious lodge nestled in the hillside hosts up to 6 guests and overlooks the wildlife reserve, a reclaimed Eden in a once remote wilderness.

Hopewell is situated 40 minutes drive from Port Elizabeth airport, in malaria free coastal valley bushveld. It is the ideal destination for those seeking privacy, exclusivity, both tranquillity and adventure. Hopewell hosts up to six guests ensuring a tailor made experience that exceeds your expectation of an unforgettable stay.

Accommodation


Guests enjoy the exclusivity of the 8000-acre authentic African- bush nature reserve. The secluded, spacious lodge, overlooking a panoramic landscape is open aired and light, with thatch insulating against the African summer heat. The interior designed living area is comfortably furnished in a classic safari style combined with a contemporary feel, with a fire place strategically positioned which warms against the winter chill.

The stylish lounge and dining room leads to a wooden deck with spectacular views of a water hole and lush valleys in the distance. Upstairs hosts an intimate recreation area and our three elegant bedrooms are all equipped with en-suite bathrooms all with views of the bush. A short walk from the main lodge is a secluded plunge pool overlooking the unspoiled verdant indigenous forest for those hot summer days.

Flora and Fauna


Hopewell Private Game reserve is home to an abundance of flora and fauna including over 285 species of birds, a herd of elephant, rhino, hippo, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, a variety of antelope and other indigenous species, all this is consistent with a balanced eco-system. A visit to Hopewell will leave you relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to book your return visit.

Activities


Activities available on the reserve range from game drives and nature walks, mountain biking and archery, bird watching from three hides situated around the property, sundowners in a tree house or simply relax by the pool or at the lodge where friendly staff are ready to attend to your every need. In the surrounding areas you will find an abundance of activities to enrich your stay these include the Indian Ocean resorts and magnificent beaches of Kenton-on-Sea and Port Alfred.

DIRECTIONS:

From Port Elizabeth Airport (70 km)
Leave the airport and turn left at the traffic circle
Continue over the railway line to Heugh Rd and turn right at the traffic lights.
Continue straight until you get to the last set of traffic lights at the bottom of the hill. This is a T-junction.
Turn left and follow the N2 towards Grahamstown for about 53 km
Turn onto the R72 signposted to Port Alfred.
Continue for 17 km and turn right at the Hopewell sign

By Air
From Johannesburg and Cape town International Airports, daily connections fly to Port Elizabeth regional airport. Transfers to and from the lodge can be arranged.
