The Green Tree Guest Cottages welcome you to experience authentic South African farm hospitality in the Addo region of the magnificent Eastern Cape, South Africa. Situated on a working dairy farm, The Green Tree Guest Cottages are owned and managed by, Datie & Lezl van Niekerk, who will do their utmost to make your stay a most memorable one! The Green Tree is centrally situated to visit the Addo Elephant Park, Schotia Safari’s, Amakhala Game Reserve and more.

ACCOMMODATION

All four of the cottages are very spacious, all with own entrance, private patios and barbeque facilities. All the cottages are tastefully furnished with Cape cottage furniture and a hint of Africa to create a tasteful southern African interior, which gives a warm, homely, contemporary feel.

THE PORCUPINE COTTAGE:
Double bed and two twin beds - suitable for groups of 2 or 3 adults sharing, cot, en-suite bathroom with large shower, toilet, bathrobes and basin, kitchenette with microwave, mini stove, cutlery, bar fridge with condiments, tea and coffee facilities, air-conditioner (cold and warm), television with M-Net, hairdryer, clock radio, private patio and braai facilities.

THE SPRINGBUCK COTTAGE:
Double bed and bunk bed (suitable for 2 children), en-suite bathroom with large shower, toilet and basin, fully equipped small kitchen, stove, cutlery, air-conditioner (cold and warm), bar fridge with condiments, tea and coffee facilities, television with M-Net, hairdryer, clock radio, private patio and braai facilities.

THE BUSHBUCK COTTAGE:
Double bed in room, en-suite bathroom with wet room (huge shower), toilet and basin, kitchenette with microwave, mini stove, cutlery, air-conditioner (cold and warm), bar fridge with condiments, tea and coffee facilities, television with M-Net, hairdryer, clock radio, private patio and braai facilities.

THE KUDU COTTAGE:
King-size bed in room, en-suite bathroom with large shower, toilet and basin, kitchenette with microwave, mini stove, cutlery, air-conditioner (cold and warm), bar fridge with condiments, tea and coffee facilities, television with M-Net, hairdryer, clock radio, private patio and braai facilities.

RELAXING

Take full advantage of our South African weather and sunbath around our swimming pool on those warm summer days, or simply catch up on your reading (and napping!) time under the trees of our lush, peaceful garden.

BIRD WATCHING

For the bird lover, there is also plenty of bird life around the farm or you can visit the Nukakamma Canoe trail (26 km), and do bird watching from a Canoe on the Sundays River, or take a walk along the beach at Colchester and see the beautiful moving sand dunes of the Eastern Cape

HIKING & SIGHT-SEEING

Guests are welcome to walk around the farm, see the dairy, and look at the bird and animal life, kudu, bush pig, duiker and porky pine or some of the animals that can be seen. The Woody Cape Nature reserve and forest close to Alexandria (part of the Greater Addo) is also a gem to visit for the Nature Enthusiast.

DINING

Our Cottages can be booked on a Bed & Breakfast or self-catering basis. Bed & Breakfast guests have their breakfast on the private patio of their cottage. A scrumptious breakfast is served by Lezl at The Green Tree Cottages, and should you wish to leave early for the Addo Elephant Park, a breakfast basket can be supplied on request. Light dinner is available by prior arrangement only, and booking 24 hours in advance is necessary to ensure that your meal is made of the freshest produce available. Dinner is served at your cottage.

RESTAURANTS

Cosy Restaurant at Colchester - very popular for their great steaks.
Tea Garden at the Spar Shopping Centre at Colchester. The Spar is also the best place to get what you need, should you be staying on a self-catering basis.
Nanaga farm stall for lunches and lovely home baked goodies.

GAME VIEWING

This is a malaria free area for game viewing.

GOLF

Bushman Sands for the golf enthusiast is an 18-hole championship course and has been designed by South African golfing legend, Gary Player. The course follows the banks of the Bushman's and New Years Rivers, resembling the game's earliest "links" courses in Scotland with undulating fairways and pot bunkers.
