A national monument built in 1864, Ann's Villa, one of the oldest country coaching inns in the Eastern Cape, lies at the foot of the Zuurberg Pass and has always been an excellent stopover point. Stay in one of the oldest country coaching inns in the Eastern Cape, a national monument at the foot of the Zuurberg Pass. All accommodation is self catering. All rooms are furnished with bedding and towels supplied. You need only bring food and drink.

Attractions & Activities


Shop in the original 1864 general goods store. Explore the history of blacksmithing and wheel making in the blacksmith museum. Meditate on the past and future in a special room dedicated to fully experiencing the incredible peace and quiet of the place. In the evening play snooker and games.

Fully researched history is available as are self guided walks of some of the rich medicinal flora of the region. Ramble through 1000 acres in a hotspot of biodiversity and enjoy the 200 species of birds recorded in the area, plus small mammals and kudu. Visit the historic graveyard.

Occasional courses (ecology, reiki, etc) and retreats offered.

Nearby Addo, Shamwari, Kwandwe, Kwantu game reserves, as well as elephant rides in the Krom River, The Valley of the Ancient Voices and the nearby historical towns of Somerset East and Grahamstown all make Ann's Villa an excellent destination for those looking for somewhere historical and interesting.

DIRECTIONS:

From Port Elizabeth
Take the N10 to Cradock. Pass Paterson, travel over the Olifantsnek Pass and turn left at the Ann's Villa road sign. Travel along the R335 and at first crossroad turn left to Ann's Villa (1km).

From Cradock side
Take the N10 to PE. Approx. 3km's after Bushman's river sign the sign for Ann's Villa can be seen, turn right and travel along the R335. At first crossroad turn left to Ann's Villa (1km).
