Dungbeetle River Lodge is uniquely situated on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River only 40 kms from Port Elizabeth on the N2. The Lodge boasts the best view of the river and is close to the new entrance to the Addo National Elephant Park.

Dungbeetle River Lodge is ideally situated as an overnight stop, or as a destination for a break-away. The Addo Elephant Game Park’s new N2 gate is only 3.5 kilometres away from the lodge so we are ideally located for day trips to the Park.

ACCOMMODATION


Dungbeetle River Lodge offers 6 up-market large, Safari type en suite bedrooms, with old world furnishings and subtly decorated to give you a classy colonial African feel. Each room with its unique big five animal name comes with television, honesty fridge, safe and a choice of single or double bed. The "Fish Eagle" our honeymoon suite includes a four poster and an open plan bathroom with a splendid river view from its own balcony.

Big Five Room: Double bed and children can be accommodated on a sleeper couch.
Fish Eagle Room: Superior 180º river view, 4 poster bed, honeymoon suite
Lion Room: Two separated single beds. (Twin)
Elephant Room: 2 ¾ beds together
Rhino room: 2 single beds together
Buffalo room: 2 single beds separated can cater for physically disadvantaged, room with outside ramp.

DINING:


Traditional English breakfast/continental breakfast/room service, or pack a picnic for that hike/canoe ride. We invite you to an optional supper. The two course meal could take you to the wilds of Africa, or be home from home!

FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES


• The lodge has several canoes and a small motorized boat for your enjoyment.
• A boat port is available, for those people who have their own boat.
• Bicycles are made available, for those who enjoy the outdoors.
• Hiking trails across the unique Woody Cape / Alexandria Dune fields formed 6500 years ago.
• Swimming in the tidal, clean Sundays river is enjoyable, and great fun!
• Several record sized fish have come out of this river, and fishing equipment is available to those who wish to sit on our jetty and try their luck. Crabs are often caught under the jetty, and could make a tasty supper for the fisherman!
• Over 200 bird species have been identified in this area, and trips up the river can be arranged for Twitchers.
• Transport can be provided from Port Elizabeth away
• Trips to local game farms can be arranged.
• Bare back elephant rides/walks can be arranged.
• Addo Elephant Game Park’s new N2 gate is only 3.5 kilometres away from the lodge.
• Scotia Safaries, Shamwari, Lalibela and other world renowned game farms are +-30 kms away.
