We have just returned from a months visit where we stayed in Loader Street, De Waterkant. We are back in the cold weather and missing beautiful Cape Town and especially the friendly people and lovely weather of the Cape. We did lots of sight seeing trips and were always glad to come home to our lovely apartment with the beautiful views of the harbour.
We will be back next year! Thats for sure.
If you stay in De Waterkant you will have the most amazing views of the city and harbour / waterfront. Its absolutely beautiful especially at night. We found this area very safe and a great place to base ourselves in - we were central to everything. Spent time at the Waterfront (lots of good shopping and great restaurants) and then we spend days doing tours to the winelands. Try the City sightseeing bus - that was great fun and we saw all the highlight of the Cape Peninsula. For nightlife, the city and greeenpoint are at you feet!
I absolutely recommend De Waterkant as a great place to stay for any trip to Cape Town!
Lots of character in this area. The Cape Quarter is a great shopping spot and the Spar has a great deli or you can spend an afternoon in one of the coffee shops. We spent an evening at Beefcakes and this was really entertaining - good burgers too.
I really like the cobbled streets and vibe that is here - some lovely restaurants in the Cape Quarter.
