DESCRIPTION:

Nestled on the edge of a leadwood and fig tree forest, overlooking the vast Khwai River floodplains and beyond into the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, sits the luxurious Khwai River Lodge. Khwai is renowned for its large concentrations of mammals and it is not unusual to see many different types of wildlife from the comfort of your own private deck.

As a year round destination for wildlife, predators can regularly be seen in the area, rated as one of the most prolific in Botswana for viewing wildlife. The exceptional location of Khwai makes it’s a regular host to Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dogs. Birdlife can also be viewed in abundance with exceptional sightings of wildfowl and raptors near the lodge.

The Okavango Delta is a phenomenal place where a thousand kilometers of river are absorbed into the sands of the Kalahari. Khwai River Lodge is set on the edge of the flood plains in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve where, from the luxury of your private air-conditioned tent, you can survey the spectacle of the Big Five whilst enjoying an indulgent aromatherapy massage. For greater excitement, you can take to a guided walk or an open 4x4 vehicle to explore the surrounding area.

ACCOMMODATION:

Khwai River Lodge is perfectly designed to blend into the surrounding environment. All luxury tents are housed on raised wooden platforms, offering great views, and shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. The large private decks are furnished with easy chairs and a hammock, ideal for viewing wildlife, or for enjoying a private dinner in complete privacy.

The tent interiors are luxuriously appointed with such comforts as an en suite bathroom, private fully stocked mini bar, four poster bed complete with mosquito netting, as well as a discreet air conditioning. For your convenience, in-rooms safes are provided for the safekeeping of all cash, travel documents and other such articles.

DINING:

Khwai River Lodge offers a Covered dining room offers delicious cuisine at all hours; Covered lounge area with fully stocked bar and Camp fire and seating area. Meals include: Early breakfast (served around 6am); Light brunch (served around 11am); Light snacks, tea and coffee on morning activity; Afternoon tea (served around 4pm); Drinks and snacks on afternoon activity; Dinner (served around 8pm). Although we consider the water to be safe to drink, bottled mineral water and various other refreshements are provided for in the fully stocked mini-bars, found in each luxury tent.

ACTIVITIES:

Open 4x4 vehicle early morning and late afternoon game drives (when conditions are ideal for viewing the wildlife), as well as guided walks by one of our experienced team of guides. Night game drives and star gazing presentations are also conducted after dinner. For those wishing to stay at the camp and relax, Khwai River Lodge, is equipped with a hide overlooking the Khwai floodplains, a swimming pool as well as a private health salon (for exclusive aromatherapy massages and treatments), and a small gymnasium. Activities throughout the year would typically include morning and afternoon game drives both inside and outside the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. The camp also offers guided walks.

DIRECTIONS:

Directions: By air to and from Johannesburg (South Africa), Maun (Botswana), Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), or Windhoek (Namibia). Please visit Air Botswana for flight details and schedules. Khwai River Lodge is accessible by road, but should only be used by drivers with four wheel drive experience.

By charter: five seater Cessna 206/210, Mack Air; three seater Cessna 177/182. Private charters on request. Cessna Caravan available on request for large parties.

Road transfers are conducted between Kasane and Victoria Falls. The trip takes approximately 2 hours.

Flying times - Guests are collected from either from Maun Airport or Kasane Airport and transferred by our preferred air charter company, Mack Air, to our various camps and then transferred back to either Maun or Kasane.
