Nature-lovers and outdoorsy folk from all over the world are invited to see the loveliness of Cape Town in the Zandvlei Park, situated in Muizenberg. This part of the Mother City is residential, and is located close to the wilder beaches that make the coast so very special.
The Zandvlei Recreational Park is an open water wetland that is bordered by the suburbs of Lakeside and Muizenberg. It includes rivers and an estuary, which make for very pretty surrounds. These backdrops provide the ideal settings for photographs, picnics, sports or simply spending time with friends and family. There are grassy areas that are fantastic for picnics and barbecues, or simply for lying in the warm summer sun and enjoying the fresh air.
Thanks to the water system within the park, Zandvlei is also a great place for those who enjoy water sports. It is used for sailing, canoeing, fishing and windsurfing by locals and visitors alike. The children’s playground is perfect for little ones with loads of energy to burn while their parents or guardians look on from the comfort of the benches.
Various pathways through the park allow for walking, jogging or cycling. In addition, visitors are welcome to bring their dogs here for a walk, provided that they are kept on their leash.
The abundance of flora and the gorgeous river system of Zandvlei combine to create a truly idyllic setting in which to soak up the loveliness of Cape Town.
The park is free of charge to enter and is open from 08h00 to 18h00 between September and March, and from 07h00 to 17h00 between April and August.
