Kelso, South Coast
Kelso is nestled on the Umdoni Coast of South Africa. Kelso was once an important link in the transportation of sugar by boat down the Umzinto River to larger vessels out at sea. Today, it has become an oasis for many who wish to unwind and relax.
Kelso provides complete respite, especially for city dwellers. Its long stretches of golden beach, warm waters, prolific sea and shell life and rocky outcrops are ideal for discovering and exploring. Spend the day simply soaking up the sun or go snorkelling and discover the exquisite tropical fish and coral reefs that are prolific in these warm waters. Fishing on the rocky outcrops is also a popular activity in Kelso. Take a leisurely and relaxing horse ride across Kelso’s pristine beaches and breathe in the fresh sea air.
Kelso is any surfers Mecca! The swells and waves are perfect and are complimented by warm waters. Surfers can also visit the remote and legendary Mfazazana Point a little further south of Kelso. If your adventurous mind is keen for a little exploring, there is a coastal midden in the vicinity of the Mzimai estuary which may, on careful search, offer up its iron-age secrets of ruins and scrapers to the curious explorer. Kelso is a quiet holiday resort providing complete relaxation. What better way to replenish the spirit than to unwind in Kelso.
