Kragga Kamma, Port Elizabeth
On the outskirts of Port Elizabeth in Nelson Mandela Bay, Eastern Cape, is the spectacular suburb of Kragga Kamma. It is situated between Lorraine and Ben Kamma on one side, and Seaview and Colleen Glen on the other. It is green and lush with beautiful bushveld, farmlands, forests and valleys.
Most of the homes are on smallholdings and farms, creating a countryside with vast expanses of greenery and indigenous trees. The birdlife here is impressive, and anyone staying in Kragga Kamma is urged to remember their binoculars. There are a number of formal cycling trails in Kragga Kamma as well as a variety of less formal walking and hiking trails.
The Kragga Kamma Game Reserve is a popular choice amongst visitors wanting to see many different wildlife species; ranging from giraffe and buffalo to rhino and cheetah. Friendly monkeys play in the trees above the wooden walkways, and there is a restaurant and curio shop for great mementoes and keepsakes.
There is also a golf course here, which has 9 holes that are ideal for beginners and pros alike.
For a peaceful escape from the city vibe, Kragga Kamma provides the ideal getaway, and a convenient base from which to explore Port Elizabeth and its surrounds.
