Taung is a little town situated in the southern part of the North West Province, South Africa, which is part of the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality. The Taung Heritage Site is situated at the quarry and remains an area of enormous archaeological import. In fact, this is believed by many anthropologists and other scientists to be the site of the first human being, enforcing the notion that Africa is the origin of humankind.
